Faced with the high cost of updating the collection of Federal Universities, and the impossibility of accessing Brazilian libraries to international scientific information, the portal was created with the aim of serving the university who needs to seek new knowledge in different countries and reduce regional disparity. in accessing that information.

The Scientific Journals Portal addresses questions from the academic, productive and governmental sectors, in addition to propagating Brazilian scientific knowledge abroad. With the responsibility of developing the invigoration of postgraduate programs in Brazil, it aims to democratize online access to high-level international scientific content.

Access to the materials provided by Periódicos Capes is carried out through the network of associated institutions, that is, it will only be possible to access this service using a computer within the institution. Some institutions, including UFOP, provide their users with a mechanism that allows access from home.

To obtain access from external ips to UFOP, the student, teacher or administrative technician must configure access via VPN, according to instructions from UFOP's IT area: VPN ACCESS

SciVerse Scopus is a database of abstracts and citations of articles for academic journals/journals. It covers nearly 19,500 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers, including coverage of 16,500 peer-reviewed journals in the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences (including the arts and humanities) fields. The Scopus Portal is owned by Elsevier and is available on the web for subscribers. UFOP is one of the Brazilian research institutions that subscribes to the Portal. To gain access, simply access the portal website www.scopus.com from UFOP's internal network. Students, faculty and ATs who are outside the UFOP network can gain access through VPN access configuration.

In addition to the huge database, Scopus has a series of services that help the researcher's life in training and professional, namely:

- consultation with researchers, institutions, etc.;

- configurable data statistics and research indicators from researchers and institutions around the world; and

- notice rules for new indexed publications.

The Web of Science is one of the largest scientific databases on the planet. Its content includes thousands of scientific journals, books and conference proceedings in the most diverse areas of knowledge.

Access to the Web of Science, previously made directly on the Thomson Reuters website, must be via the Capes Periodicals Portal on computers connected to the UFOP network or via a VPN connection (Proxy Access). The base is accessible through the following steps:

1. Access the Capes Periodical Portal;

2. On the home page, in the Search box, click on the “Base” option to access the Capes scientific database search;

3. On the scientific basis page, search for the term “Web of Science”;
