The Ouro Preto Business Incubation Reference Center, Incultec, is a technology-based business incubator for UFOP and Ouro Preto. Incultec was born on June 20, 2006, from the efforts of UFOP, which articulated the university-industry-government alliance with the objective of promoting technological dissemination in the region. UFOP established a partnership with the company Novelis and the Municipality of Ouro Preto, contributing decisively to the realization of Incultec as an agent of technological and social development of the municipality.

Incultec belongs to the Center for Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NITE), which is linked to the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies (PROPPI).

Incultec is aligned with the government's objectives of elevating Brazil to the category of world power in the production and use of technologies. Such efforts are part of the goals of UFOP, which joins the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Government of Minas Gerais, through the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Higher Education (SECTES) and the Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG), in order to increase innovative and entrepreneurial actions.
